Hello friends, and welcome back to another episode of the trout stream. I am Harry Troutman and with me, as always, is my cohost.
Speaker 2:I am Paul Troutman.
Speaker 1:So pick up a pole, cast a line and join us on the stream. On episode 68, we will discuss our favorite athletes to wear 68, hand out our golden trouts and eels of the week, continue our biggest pet peeves, bracket and, of course, much, much more. Paul, welcome back to the Trout Stream. Welcome to 68.
Speaker 2:68,. Like the summer of love, this is going to be a good episode.
Speaker 1:This is going to be a great episode. I do want to shout out our listeners to our last. We actually had a little special fishing after work. We are tired of dead space. So if you haven't listened, to go back, listen to fishing after work. It's they're going to be our filler episodes and they're not going to be full episodes. There's no outline, it's just you and I talking. It's a great time, really fun it was. It was a really fun, fun time. But I want to shout out our listeners from Dayton, ohio and blue earth, minnesota. Blue earth, minnesota. There's some good folk up there. There is some some good old folk up there. We just got back from, not just earlier this week, it was labor Day. Oh yeah, did you do anything fun and exciting?
Speaker 2:We went out of town to a state called Oklahoma, a little area called Broken Bow. Yeah, cabins, airbnb, verbo, vrbo, whatever you guys want to call them on the streets. Pretty cool man. It's a tourist town. That doesn't realize it's a tourist town yet, ooh, beautiful, they got a lake. Well, the only thing that's not beautiful is it's like a two-lane road going through this thing, and holiday weekend I had to run to the store to go pick up. I forget something, for I only needed vinegar. I needed two teaspoons of vinegar and right until house we were in had zero. So I had to drive two miles in town to get it and it took me a long time to buy a giant bottle of vinegar for two teaspoons. But I was making an angel food cake from scratch and I needed it.
Speaker 1:I didn't even know vinegar was an angel food cake. Eh well, it's in a vegan one. I needed it. I didn't even know vinegar was in angel food cake.
Speaker 2:Well, it's in a vegan one. That makes sense. Multiple allergies at one house, but anyway, great time. Well, we left Friday afternoon, came back Monday afternoon. How long of a drive is that? Three hours? No, that's not bad, not traffic. Three hours. Nice escape. Cut through parts of Arrakensass, hit some Tejas Boom In Oklahoma. Did you know? That's where the wind comes sweeping down the plane.
Speaker 1:I did. Someone sang about that one time.
Speaker 2:Nothing about that boring weekend.
Speaker 1:Tell me about yours Holiday weekend Went out saw the in-laws they were. They were. They both work shift work. So it's really hard. Yeah, cause Angie and I work Monday to Friday. They work whenever they're scheduled. So it was actually a nice three day weekend. We went, did a little fishing, met up with some more of her family, did some fishing, caught my first ever perch. That's a very big one, beautiful, all right I'm, I'm gonna say it. We only caught three fish that day. Her dad caught one, her cousin caught one and there was about three poles in the water for anyone to grab and fish took it and her uncle looked at me like Harry reel it in and insulted my manhood a little bit.
Speaker 1:I was like no, I want to catch. I want to catch my own fish on my own pole, yeah. So I was like nah, go ahead, you got it. He's like no, no, no, I want you to. Yeah. So I was like nah, go ahead, you got it. He's like ah, no, no, I want you to catch something. And I was like thanks, you're going to catch these hands. But like it was, it was a. It was a real genuine, like dude, you know what I mean. Yeah, I'm out here all the time. So private lake fully stocked. It just so happened to be a really hot day and nothing biting. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Of course, because you were there.
Speaker 1:Yeah, oh, it was raining and hot. It was just a disaster.
Speaker 1:And probably no bridge, no bridge. We did an escape room. Ooh hello. That was really fun. It was an award ceremony and we had to go in and change out the winners and it was. It was super fun. We did, we, we got out. That's interesting, it is. It is, um, I love doing escape rooms with her dad. Yeah, because he's the most intense person when it comes to escape rooms man, and in the moment, in the moment, it's a lot. But when it comes to escape rooms man, and in the moment, in the moment, it's a lot. But when it's all said and done, you just gotta. You know, we, we kind of laugh cause it's just like dude, like from one point, and I told him he was like I think that goes with this, I think that goes with this, and I was like Alan, I need to. Yeah, yeah, so we get, we get out. And he's like I'm so sorry, and I was like don't apologize, dude, that's why I love escape rooms. Yeah, it's, it's for that high intensity moments. But, yeah, great time.
Speaker 2:Uh, four hours, four hour drive, ain't bad oh, I thought you said my escape room for four hours. I'm like you know, I don't think.
Speaker 1:I don't think I could do it. Most of them are an hour. Yeah, an hour. I think we got out. You know, I also realized, as we're booking this room, golf and escape rooms are the same thing. I mean you pay to see how little you can play.
Speaker 2:Yeah, how quick can I get done Right, and you're proud of it too right. The quicker you done, the better you are.
Speaker 1:I mean you would think you would want to get out in 59 minutes and 59 seconds, right?
Speaker 2:I've done that, but I don't want to play that game because my luck like he would break or something but that's enough about escape rooms.
Speaker 1:We can talk. We can have a whole episode about escape rooms. We can have a whole episode about escape rooms, we can. Nascar finished up. We will get into NASCAR. You got the win.
Speaker 2:I got the win at Darlington.
Speaker 1:So we are going to talk NASCAR a little later. We are officially in the playoffs. You beat me on the last race at Darlington, so we are going to talk NASCAR a little later. We are officially in the playoffs.
Speaker 2:You beat me on the last race. I did so 68,. Who do you got? I got a few here. I'm going to start with the 2008 Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman. I mentioned it before Dad grew up in Delco. He's now a Hall of Famer, played in the New York Jets Young man by the name of Dan Klecko Klecko is a big name around our household and around our area, so happened to be from the greatest county in the country.
Speaker 1:Delco, Delco, Delco.
Speaker 2:Next one yeah, you hated him for years. You hate him for a long time. You admired him. I don't know how you can hate him. Number 68. Everywhere he's been the one and only Yami Ryager. Where hasn't he been? Khl where he's been the one and only Yami Ryager. Where hasn't he been? Khl? Probably Europe somewhere. He's played on like 17 NHL teams. His name's on the cup a few times, mainly known for his mullet and playing in Pittsburgh. Yes, played in Philly for a couple years, which that was very odd and hard to see, but also like appreciative. Even when he played in Philly, somebody like tried roughing him up and like all the flyers came over. It's like you don't touch the legend, like if he makes you mad, fight me, I don't care, you don't touch him. So he's loved and respected and I don't think he'll ever get into the professional hall of fame unless he's dead, because he's never gonna stop playing hockey okay where you're going.
Speaker 1:What do you mean?
Speaker 2:dude is like 60 years old, still playing hockey, still playing, yeah. And my last 68, this one here hits closer to us, closer to me, number 68, chichester High School, gary Beam. He tried to break my neck at practice one time when the linemen got to tackle each other. Everybody's just a big dumb animal. Yeah, make sure he was running it. Also, the tackle I went in for is too high. But Gary was a senior when I was a junior and he was part of the crew that helped initiate the chicken parm sandwiches in high school. God bless him Standing right there in line with him. So, yep, we're together. It was probably Friday. We're all wearing our jerseys and he's wearing that maroon jersey with the big gray 6'8 on it. So this is out to you, Gary Beam. But that's all I got, man, I got three. But that's all I got, man, I got three.
Speaker 1:I'm going to take your lineman and I'm going to Pee back that Off of Probably my fourth favorite lineman. Okay, he's up there for me. Offensive lineman, offensive lineman. We haven't got To the other ones yet. Well, we got to Jason Kelsey, obviously, yeah, and then there's two more Above the him. So, yeah, I mean yeah, he's number four In my book, the one, the only, jordan Mylotta. Okay, alright, number 68 For the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a rugby player, never played a down of football in his life and the Eagles signed him on their international outreach program. I was really hoping that he was going to run the ball.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:But you know he went to Stoutland University. He even says it so during the Sunday games when they, like you know, they sit down and, like you know, he went to Stoutland University. He even says it so during the Sunday games when they, like you know, they sit down and, like you know. Example Paul Traum at Penn State Boom, boom. Saquon Barkley, penn State. Jordan Mailata sits down and goes Jordan Mailata, stoutland University Boom, so beautiful Chills every time. First time captain this year, well-deserved.
Speaker 2:Very well-deserved. I think it suits him very well.
Speaker 1:It does. Team captains are voted on by the players.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's a team thing. You're not appointed that by the coaches or owners. Like the team votes you in, so that says a lot. It does Especially the guys that are team captains for several years.
Speaker 1:I know there was a point during practice in preseason where the offensive lineman kept jumping and he was the one that made everyone run suicides. Oh, until they got it right.
Speaker 2:I mean that takes some stuff, but he's also yeah, he's a big rugby player, so naturally conditioned.
Speaker 1:Naturally dude, and that's why I thought maybe he'd be a goal line running back.
Speaker 2:Right there was a poll out there. I think the Eagles put it on one of their social media. It was like special play, because somebody said they wanted to run the ball or something. Who would you rather have the ball? And it was Jordan Davis, jalen Carter, I think it was like Landon Dickerson, another offensive lineman, or Jordan Milot. I'm like this is, without a doubt, jordan Milot. He can protect the ball better. Also, he's a rugby player, so he's used to running and trucking dudes Like that's my job.
Speaker 1:Well, if the tush push ever gets banned, I know what we need to do. Yeah, refrigerator Perry it.
Speaker 2:Jordan Milota. Yeah, 100%, you know, Harry. Let me sneak back in here. I've only got one draft pick.
Speaker 2:I scoured the sources, the interwebs, the internets, the worldwide webs, the HTTPS, backslash, backslash, I look there's only one standout 68 overall draft pick. The year was 1985. Greatest year of Earth. Jack Del Rio was drafted Really that? Jack Del Rio Head ball coach. Jack Del Rio was drafted Really that? Jack Del Rio Head ball coach. Jack Del Rio Linebacker. I like finding those. I like ones that I had to do deeper research. I can't just go to a regular website and be like, oh, here's the big name. No, I want to do my research and that one was great to find that is awesome.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's the only draft picks I got.
Speaker 1:We're going to keep it moving quick. We got to talk NASCAR. We're in the playoffs. Playoffs, playoffs, playoffs, playoffs. Chase briscoe got the win, put him in the playoffs. It's the last year of stewart hot haas racing. Kind of a big thing the 14 again yeah, I'm back in the playoffs yeah, iconic holds off kyle bush to make it in the playoffs. Yeah, rewind to 2020 at Darlington. Who does Briscoe hold off to get the win? Chase Briscoe, it's art that's crazy.
Speaker 1:It's art and it's beautiful. But it also sucks that Bush is not in the playoffs. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Pretty sure you said Chase Briscoe held off. Chase Briscoe in 2020?
Speaker 1:Yes, I don't know. Chase Briscoe held off Kyle Busch in 2020.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's still awesome, though, and then again in 2024. Yeah, Same.
Speaker 1:Thing happened.
Speaker 2:Not a Chase Briscoe guy, but I respect the game. Not a Chase Briscoe guy either, no, but that's two weeks in a row where Kyle Busch finished second in must-win situations, I think Harrison Burton winning Daytona. He had every opportunity to dump Harrison Burton, but I think he You've seen the movie Departed right With DiCaprio, of course, okay.
Speaker 1:The bar scene, I shouldn't say of course, because if this show has taught us anything, there's a lot of movies I haven't seen. Actually, I remember the exact night I watched it. Because it's so long, I said I'm going to watch half tonight. I got to get up for work tomorrow and I'll watch the second half the next day. I stayed up till 2 am to finish it.
Speaker 2:Absolutely Worth it, love it. It's one of my top favorite movies. But the bar scene with DiCaprio smashed the glass on the guy's head and Frenchie grabbed him. I'm not saying this is a guy you can't hit. I'm not saying this is a guy you can hit, right, you know what I mean. So like you can't hit him, but you're not supposed to. I look at the 21 Wood Brother car with Harrison Burton driving it and Kyle Bush. That scene was going on my head where he's like it's not a guy you can spin, but it's not a guy you can't right, but it's just Kyle Bush is trying to win that race respectfully. And then, of course, now next week, chase Briscoe is dumb luck with that our season wraps up.
Speaker 1:It does regular season let's start off with the wins now.
Speaker 2:We each had disqualifications we each had one disqualification. Mm-hmm, 26 total races in the first half, or regular season. Harry, I don't know how much evener we can get, because we each won 13 races.
Speaker 2:I don't even know what to say to that Like we could make some stat up to where it's like the all-star race is the tiebreaker, but even then we just went odd and even we didn't even pick Right. So we gotta go down in points. I've come into a hot streak here as of late, harry, I've won five of the last six races to come up to make it 13 apiece, and my finishes were pretty good. So my overall regular season point standing was 726 points. It's a great season, dude. It is a great season, dude. It is a great season To your 720 points.
Speaker 1:It's even a better season for you.
Speaker 2:Oh, but don't give me a round of applause just yet, because Harry had three wins in the regular season and, as we discussed back several months ago with Nath Garcia, he started back in February. If your pick them wins the race, you get bonus points and we've agreed that each win is worth a total of one bonus point. I'm sorry, I misread my sheet there. It is a total of 10 bonus points per win. Harry gets an additional 30 points. That moves Harry to 750 points to my 726. Congratulations, regular season champion Harry.
Speaker 1:Thank you, thank you, thank you. Listen, I really like to thank my sponsor Brisk for standing by me all season. Yeah, this is a good me all season. Yeah, this is a good sponsor to have. Yeah, super refreshing. Listen, we just left it all out there on the track and really got lucky, really, really got lucky. There's no reason I should have won. It is the regular season where you're going to celebrate, but we still have the playoffs to think about. Hmm, we have 10 big races coming up, harry, how do you feel about it? 10 big races. Look, I'm feeling confident. I'm feeling so confident because I won the regular season, as we talked about before we aired the show, before we started recording. I'm going to pick first as a reward. Yes, chase Elliott.
Speaker 2:Oh Harry, that was a bold Move. Oh my gosh, because Remember? Oh man, we have to use playoff drivers. We're starting with 16 playoff drivers.
Speaker 1:Listen, I'll give you my reasoning too Is cause I think obviously Chase and Atlanta go hand in hand, but I don't see Chase going deep in the playoffs, oh see.
Speaker 2:I'm Opposite of that.
Speaker 1:Do you think Chase is going deep in the playoffs?
Speaker 2:I think he's at least going to the second round. Maybe, but See, you can have him. I'm going to take the number two car, austin Sindrick, who had a top five in the spring race. I do not see the number two car getting out of the first round, smart so you get the points.
Speaker 2:Yep, let me just get what I can out, right, okay, but with that, who are your first four out? Right, because NASCAR, they do three races. So this year it is Atlanta, watkins, glen and then Bristol. So as those three races, they cut the field from 16 to 12. If you win, you get an automatic transfer. First four out, harry.
Speaker 1:Harrison Burton, austin, sendrick I don't know if you're going to like this next one, I think Brad K. And my fourth I? Yeah, sendrick Burton, brad K. Yeah, sendrick Burton, brad Kay. See, the thing is as much as I want to say, briscoe, I feel like that momentum is too strong right now. That makes sense.
Speaker 2:Alex Bowman 48 okay, young man.
Speaker 1:I see he could do really good at Watkins Glen because he won the Chicago race. Yeah, I mean, even if that race was going to continue, he would have been top five, top three even. Yeah, I'm going to stick with that. It's not a bad decision. I think Briscoe just has too much momentum right now. Yeah, I get it. I mean he's having just a storybook, it is, but I have him first four out.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I got him the 21 car, harrison Burton, the two car, austin Sindrick. Even though I picked him for Atlanta, he still has Watkins, glennon, bristol to go, and my Hail Mary Joey Logano. Okay, logano has made some enemies. You're going to a super Speedway-ish track where you need drafting partners. Then you go to a road course where I can easily dump you and say that I lost handling. And then you're going to Bristol.
Speaker 1:Where the term rubbing his race and was invented. Yeah, all right, man, I like it. So I like it, I like it I like it, it's on my show. Lock it in.
Speaker 2:It's in my notes, just for me to lose it next week. It is.
Speaker 1:It is, it is. It is fun watching you scramble to find the latest show sheet. Every, every episode it's. I wrote that down on a show sheet. Well, which one Cause we've?
Speaker 2:we've had a lot I have 68 shows where the show sheets now and I save all of them.
Speaker 1:Well, we got to put something in the Smithsonian.
Speaker 2:Right, I mean they call us. I'm not giving them my hat, it's my good hat. That's enough about NASCAR, harry.
Speaker 2:I think it's time I think it is time that we put this car in high gear. We head to the biggest pet peeve bracket. I know you're excited. I know I'm excited. I know our thousands of followers are excited as well. Let's get to it. Just like every other week, let's start with the wildest, the most lopsided matchups and then I'll pick the next one randomly from there. So let's start from the top left region, as we like to call it down here, the Tabasco region. We're treating customer service poorly. There's people who do not say please and thank you, harry, this one was a blowout, but are you ready for the results, because I wasn't anticipating this? Okay, we have 86 to 14. Treating customer service poorly is moving on.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that is for sure becoming the all-in favorite, yeah.
Speaker 2:Mike, so that congratulations to treating customer service poorly. You won the Tabasco region. It's kind of wild, but congratulations. I never thought somebody I would say somebody won the Tabasco region, but congratulations, young man. Moving on to the next one, let's go to the bottom left, harry, right Left sock we've talked about socks recently, those just down here right. We got it as, uh, texas peat, but harry refers to it as texas texas region. Okay, here we go. Let's light it up.
Speaker 2:We got distracted drivers Going mano a mano with people who are rude, to server slash, don't tip. 78.22. Harry, this is a good one. These are both big pet peeves, especially for those of us that have taken road trips recently. Distracted drivers are terrible, but also people who are rude and don't tip their servers, especially when you're on vacation. Oof Makes me want to pull the train horn and get really mad. 78-22. Where do you think it went? Not tipping Distracted drivers takes the Texas Yeet region. What Distracted drivers. People are more upset about a distracted driver than you not taking care of your server. Now, it's top-low. Let's move to the right side, harry, Left side, strong side. Now let's move to the right, bottom right, the old Tapatio region. We have slow left lane drivers going heads up against people who talk on speakerphone in public. 65 35. You know where this is going. I know where it's going because I have the answers in front of me, highlighted in blue. Slow left lane drivers.
Speaker 1:I'm telling you it's the worst, it's one of the worst things yeah, slow left lane drivers, they.
Speaker 2:I'm telling you it's the worst, it's one of the worst things. Yeah, slow left lane drivers, they won the Tapatio region, setting themselves up for the winner On the top right region. Frank's Red Hot Loud chewers versus know-it-all slash. One uppers. Closest matchup of the week Harry 62 to 38. Little drum roll Harry 62-38. Little drumroll, please Not so loud, no at all in one uppers. I'm moving on, See I knew a guy that, wow, I knew a guy who's way worse.
Speaker 1:He was way worse.
Speaker 2:This is amazing.
Speaker 1:Harry.
Speaker 2:As our brackets come up, distracted drivers are going against treating customer service poorly in our final four, final four, that's going to be a dogfight, that is a dogfight. And then the other bracket. We got slow left-wing drivers going against no-nulls or one-uppers.
Speaker 1:Imagine a one-upper driving slow in the left lane. They all are. They think they are. I'm going to one-uppper driving slow in the left lane.
Speaker 2:They all are they think they are.
Speaker 1:I'm gonna one-up you by going really slow listen I I've had to start taking the blue route to work I'm sorry yeah, trust me, it's the worst time. I've always told myself I'll never take the blue route because, like even in high school, watching action news in the morning yeah, which a sidebar Does the action news theme song randomly play in your head? All the time we have to.
Speaker 2:In my house we stand up for a few things the national anthem, the pledge of allegiance and the action news theme song.
Speaker 1:I don't know what it is, dude, it would just pop into my head.
Speaker 2:I don't know another news out there that has a theme song. I've lived and I've traveled this country and I enjoy watching local news. Yeah, I don't know if it's getting older or just like knowing what's going on in the area I don't know if it's getting older or just like knowing what's going on in the area. I don't hear theme songs.
Speaker 1:It might be a quick little jingle or something, but nothing as intoxicating as the 6 ABC Action News. You can YouTube it, oh yeah 100%.
Speaker 2:Have you ever heard the song After Midnight? Not on Action News Late at Night. It's like an Eric Clapton song After Midnight. Anyway, they use it as their theme song as well. For, like the night news, like the 11 o'clock news or something. I heard that A few months ago on the radio here and I was like Is Jim Garner coming theme song as well? For, like the night news, like the 11 o'clock news or something. I heard that a few months ago on the radio here and I was like it's Jim Garner, tell me something breaking news. It's not 11 o'clock at night, guys.
Speaker 1:Bringing this back. But even in high school you'd hear on the news how messed up the blue room was yeah. And here I hear on the news how messed up the Blue Room was yeah. And here I am on the Blue Room and there's a dude doing 45 in the left lane. Oh no, when it's wide open.
Speaker 2:I'll get it. I'm trying to think of where you and I were right before I joined the Air Force.
Speaker 1:We got pulled over weren't we up on our way to Deval?
Speaker 2:I think we were up to allentown allentown I think we were in the terminal like no, because I had tires and truck parts in my truck, in my van yeah I know you got parts. They were jamming at the metallica doing like 80 and a 55 in the left lane.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I was 17. That makes you about 12, 13. Jammin' Metallica waved at the cop as we flew by him in this sweet 1988 maroon E250 panel van. That thing topped out at 79 and I somehow got it to do 80. I think my stereo unit costs more than what that van was worth. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Typical high school kids. But pull flew by this cop pulled me over, gave me a ticket for being left lane too long and I said well I was, I was passing cars. Yeah, he didn't want to hear it and have my eyes for a joint.
Speaker 1:Honestly, he probably thought I was being kidnapped.
Speaker 2:Yeah, especially this way. We were air drumming to Metallica and I remember looking at you like, yeah, you're seatbelt on right, I knew the cop was coming. It was a good time. But that's it for the poll man. Be on the lookout. I'm going to be dropping Final Four here soon. I want to drop the Final Four, harry, honestly, probably before this episode airs. Cool, I love it.
Speaker 2:I got to get with our production and editing crew. Make sure we're on the same page Because we have a social media team. We have the editors. The producers deal with our editors and really talk to the director of the show. Make sure everybody's on the same page, because our director yells at the social media guy a lot. So I want to make sure everybody's meshing. Everything's on board here and, like the editors, I want to leave this part in here because I just want to say thank you, really jive this show together. But be on the lookout, I'm going to put them on Facebook, maybe Instagram. I don't know how to do polls on Instagram. There's gotta be a way, right? Our social media guy is still trying to figure out how to do polls on Instagram and on DMX is social media platform. But be on the lookout, it is coming. I'm excited for the final four. I am excited.
Speaker 1:We're going to talk a while. There's only one golden trout and we're going to talk about it, and probably talk about it to some extent. Yeah, so before we do that, let's go over the eels of the week.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we're going to do this show a little unorthodox and we're going to save the golden trust for later.
Speaker 1:We are Because like I said, there's only one. Yeah, really just one, just one. Great things have happened, but there's only one thing that's Currently happening as we're recording.
Speaker 2:Yeah, worthy, worthy of it.
Speaker 1:I'm going to hit up my first deal. I only have one the Olympics wrapped up. Yep, we're not going to talk about the deal. Yeah, usa, all the way USA. But you know what else no one is talking about as much and it royally pisses me off. The Paralympics, ah yes, I just don't see how you can make such a big deal Out of the regular Olympics. I mean, the Paralympics have grown exponentially, don't get me wrong, and I love it, but there's no reason that the Paralympics have grown exponentially, don't get me wrong.
Speaker 2:And I love it. But there's no reason that the Paralympics shouldn't get just as much attention as the regular Olympics, if not more. I think it should, right Between regular Olympics, get the appropriate amount of attention. I think the Paralympics I've seen videos, I've been watching some cool things the talent that these people have they can whoop me in whatever sport they want to, at any time, and like this isn't like a gloating, like I'm an abled body, grown man. Yeah, I'm a man, jeff Gundy.
Speaker 2:Yeah, these people would whoop me yeah have you seen the guy from China with no arms swimming? Yes, finishing second sounds so terrible. Narrowly he's got to hit the wall with his head and the guy that beat him by that was able to reach out.
Speaker 1:Wild.
Speaker 2:Some of those athletes. I would take them over regular Olympians.
Speaker 1:I would, but that regular Olympians I would. But that's it, man. I just wish you got more attention and more passion, as much as the Olympics did.
Speaker 2:That's not a deal I thought you would come up with. That's a good one. I wasn't expecting that one, because we both talked about, like the frustration about I didn't mean that in a bad way, like that. One way to go, yeah, way to go. I'm saying like that was. We agreed on a deal. We agree on this deal too. I want to bring up the what about the new event break the break dancing event and the trash Australian break dancer? I want to deep dive into this but I'm not going to. Basically, trash Australia should be ashamed of themselves.
Speaker 1:Some kind of collusion with the coach?
Speaker 2:and and the voting committee and everything like that.
Speaker 1:Someone needs to do a very, very, very deep dive into this.
Speaker 2:Yeah, mid 2000s, chance and I. Well, chance stole my moves. I choreographed a entire landscaping routine, dance moves. That would have won me a medal over what she was trying to do. But anyway, all that to say, here's my eel, harry, and it's just a general eel. This is a overarching eel. Whenever there's a controversy, somebody has to end it in the word gate. Okay, annoys me. Think about it Almost because Watergate, richard Nixon, tom Brady gets in trouble. Spygate, deflategate, leftgate, frontgate, backgate, right Chevygate. No, I get it Whatever it is, instead of just saying, hey man, this is going on right now, it's a controversy. Stop putting gate at the end of it. They can go. Oh dude, don't get me started on that. Ever since we finalized our biggest pet peeve bracket, I realized I could have probably filled in 31 to 32. Because then you start thinking about more and more pet peeves. Things come up and like what's annoying me.
Speaker 2:Ford F-250s that can't park inside the lines because they think that they're better than me. Well, that stinks. You have three flat tires now. I don't know what happened, because you have four flat tires. It's an insurance claim.
Speaker 1:I would just flatten my fourth tire.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, 100% If it was me. That's it. I'm done with that one. Stop calling everything gate and stop calling everybody a goat.
Speaker 1:There is one big, giant golden trout. Stop calling everybody a goat. There is one big giant golden trout this week. Oh yeah, big one, you can smell it, you can taste it. Oh yeah, I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it football is back, oh yeah that's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2:Football is back. That's what I'm talking about. I feel like Macho man already said.
Speaker 1:I'm taking off sunglasses I'm not even wearing right now.
Speaker 2:I feel like an 80s wrestler. We had a lot of powder sugar through our nose, yeah.
Speaker 1:I got the Ravens and the Chiefs game on. Right now I don't care about this game at all, but it is professional football.
Speaker 2:Regular season ball.
Speaker 1:I know we've had college and that's fantastic. I'll always support Penn State, but, man, I love professional football.
Speaker 2:Professional football is easier to follow because it's 32 teams. Right, think about that. It's 32 teams and you can lose a week, and it's fine. There's only ever been one team that never lost a single game 72 Dolphins. We talked about it last week in episode 67. But here's the thing, man College football is great too because there's so many games.
Speaker 1:So many games, it's nonstop.
Speaker 2:Yes, I don't want to get into how long, but I was at a food establishment one time for 13 hours Watching college football.
Speaker 1:And I bet there was still more college football.
Speaker 2:No, we were there for the very first game and then we were there for the very last game. But it's, we were there for the very first game and then we were there for the very last game, but this is football man. Well, we had three waitresses, so Bills didn't seem like that much.
Speaker 1:Listen, all that matters is that it's here the Eagles play on Friday night. Friday night football In Brazil, which, uh, we're going gonna see how the game goes and it might get an eel. Yeah, I'm like an absolute mess.
Speaker 2:I have that eel preemptively lined up ready to go. When they tell their players don't leave the hotel, don't reply to texts, don't make any phone calls.
Speaker 1:But there are two ways to handle that, though, and I've seen a video of today of the Eagles at the stadium. I guess it was their practice time and they're really just hanging out together. They're really meshing together a team and fun as a team. I like that, and that's huge.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I like that I'll take it, but football's back. I'm not doing any fantasy this year, me neither. I just want to party, I just want to enjoy the game. I just not doing any fantasy this year, me neither. I just want to buddy, I just want to enjoy the game, I just want to enjoy it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I miss it, though. This is my second year not doing fantasy and it's I'm not going to lie to you it hurts.
Speaker 1:It's rough, but at the same time I just want to relax on Sundays and watch games.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it takes the stress away Playing fantasy. You know every matchup, every week of what's happening, so not playing fantasy. You kind of lose touch with some of that. Yeah, at the same time, there's really only one team that everybody follows, everybody team, every one team that everybody follows. One team that everybody cares about.
Speaker 1:That's the birds.
Speaker 2:I'm going to jump in here, Harry. I'm going to give an unconventional, Not unconventional. I don't want to rain on the NFL, right? We have games Thursday, Friday, college on Saturday, pro Sunday and Monday. I feel terrible for Sabrina because, well, I'm busy. I may just lay up in bed this weekend and be like I don't know how well I feel. No, I'm just kidding. I have people coming to visit me this weekend. That's why I'm also kind of glad the Eagles game is Friday night. But I've got to give another golden trout.
Speaker 2:It's a smaller one, not as big as the NFL. It goes out to a certain app I just shared with Harry. It's called Drafty Cards, a little racing app. The creator of it Not only the creator of like, not for creating the game. I've had this game for about four days and three days in a row I've had updates, Feedback option in the app and it messages like update information of it, Like hey, I fixed this. I've heard you guys are saying this. So I fixed this, fix this, fix this, fix this. It's pretty cool, it's awesome. I never see that. No, you don't see that. Plus, like on social media, there's NASCAR drivers that are screenshotting them playing this game. Jesse Love. I would love to have no intended. Jesse loves an upcoming nascar driver. Remember the name?
Speaker 2:okay his, his social media was him taking a screenshot. He drives a two, uh, the two car for richard childers and the xfinity series. So he's playing drafty car and his car numbers too. Obviously he's got to stick to it. He says getting ready for Atlanta.
Speaker 2:So I think, this is awesome, but yeah, I mean somebody who listens to their, their fans or followers kind of reminds me of the two people I know, really our director and our producer of of this show. So shout out to them as well. They always get a golden trout from us.
Speaker 1:I know we only said one, but now I have another one and it was just one of those fool moments. So if you don't know by now and I really, really, really hope so we do have a page on Facebook. Well, we do. It is called the Trial Stream that's the name of our show, hmm, and we put stuff up all the time. We're always sharing, we're always posting, so you put up who comes to mind when you put up 68? And I'm not going to put the man's full name out there. You really want to go see it, you can go find it. But our new friend, jerry, who, who? Who comes to mind when you say 68? Jerry said headed to Vietnam. And Jerry, thank you for your service. We appreciate you. Thanks, jerry. All right, buddy, let's keep it moving. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for America's favorite segment, pwn Paul's Weird News. Here is your host, paul.
Speaker 2:Hey, harry, thanks for that. Out here on the streets, I have some weird news for you today. Speaking about dropping a hook and casting a line, I gotta tell you. Did you know? Back in 1997, the Tokyo Express cargo ship had an accident off the coast of Cornwall and it lost some precious cargo. One of the cargo containers ahead was full of Lego. So imagine this 1997, a Lego shipping container is dumps over inside that shipping container. Dumps over.
Speaker 2:Inside that shipping container was 51,800 Lego sharks, 5 million Lego pieces, plunged right there into the ocean. 51,800 of them are these plastic sharks which were found in three separate Lego kits. So one was a shark cage, cove of the shark attack and deep sea bounty. All that to say, a fisherman, harry, has snagged one while fishing on the coast of Cornwall. He drops his net, he's out there, he's doing his job, he's fishing, he reels in and instantly he looks in the net and he knows what he has.
Speaker 2:And he has one of these rare Lego sharks from the bottom of the ocean. It's been down there for almost three full decades. A little wear and tear, right, it's got some ocean life on it, but he found it, and all of the ocean. He finds one of them and they say that's the first one found Of the over 50,000, it's the first one found down there. Like how cool is that man? It's almost like winning a lottery or something. I really don't know what the odds are of that. That's pretty, pretty cool. Even Legos there's Project Legos where they have a website and I believe you know, I'm going to post it.
Speaker 2:I'm going to post the website as long as I get it to work and the author, tracy Williams. She's penned a book about the incident titled Adrift the Curious Tale of Lego Lost at Sea. Talking about that cargo ship, you know the big accident, but she also runs the Lego lost at sea project, where folks flagged the bricks they managed to recover from the briny depths. This one is getting added to there. So I really want to go to that website. I'm going to add all this to our Facebook page once this episode airs and I'll tag this because it's going to be cool, man, like see where all these Lego pieces were found.
Speaker 2:Let's move from one ocean to another, harry. Let's go to the Pacific Ocean, western United States, where a California kayaker has an experience, has a run-in with a great white shark and an end end caught on camera. Oh bro, this is wild. So there's two kayakers out there in a little area called Half Moon Bay Sounds familiar to you because I've gone fishing there and that's what makes this very weird to me. Oh no, it's around the San Francisco area my buddies and I used to go. When we go deep sea fishing, we would go in Half Moon Bay on like the Queen of Hearts and go get a bunch of rockfish Great area. It's the only Taco Bell on the beach in the world, so we stopped there. I didn't know that, I was just really hungry that day. But Southern Half Moon Bay they're sitting there kayaking, two dudes kayaking, and all of a sudden they look back and there's a dorsal fin. I'm like oh, what is that behind me? That is a great white shark and it is roughly 13 to 14 feet.
Speaker 2:Now can you imagine being out in the middle of the ocean in a kayak? First off, no, I cannot. I want to be on a boat. No, I'm out. And for that reason I'm out. I know what's in the waters there. I'm not stupid. I know there's some things bigger than me. But it just shows you that great white sharks aren't all about, you know, killing and destruction. It's not Jaws, because it follows the kayakers around a little bit.
Speaker 2:I started watching a video and the one guy goes as his buddy goes. Hey, man, you all right? How do you answer? Hey, are you all right? I don't know. I have a great white shark following my kayak right now. I don't know. And then, luckily for them, the Northern California seals started barking because then the great white's attention got diverted. He went that way. But could you imagine sitting there kayaking with your buddy, even if you're fishing or not, you're just like enjoying the day. And then, oh hello, great white shark. That's not an oh hello moment, no, that's a oh I I need to change my underwear moment. But let's take that animal encounter To. After a sunny day, let's go to boom dark power outage. You're going to think that I'm repeating a story, harry, but this story has happened again. This is the second occurrence toward a Virginia power outage, for over 11,000 customers can be blamed on a snake.
Speaker 1:It's weird, it happened once, correct. It's even weirder it happened twice, right.
Speaker 2:So now I can't remember where it happened last time, but this time customers in Newport News, including Christopher Newport University. He lost power on a Saturday night recently. It was past Saturday night when the crew discovered the cause of the outage was a snake that slithered into a high voltage area and came into contact with the transformer. Now, granted, power was only out for about an hour and a half, not a long time. Hey man, kudos to you. I don't want to lose power for five minutes, but an hour and a half, you know, inversely compared to what it could be out for, great, but for a snake. Snakes climb that high.
Speaker 1:I don't want to think about it, dude, I gotta go to sleep. Tonight I'm going to put a tree stand up.
Speaker 2:Hunting season's right around the corner, Harry. I'm currently wearing a camo long-sleeved shirt just because I'm a little chilly right now, Like I'm ready for hunting season. But now I keep hearing all this talk about snakes. Like I don't want to set up a stand. Don't live your life in fear. But here's the even scarier part the type of snake responsible for the outage was not identified, but they identify it or was it?
Speaker 1:just what I'm saying. Was it so cooked that they couldn't identify it? No or I'm yeah, or was it a brand new snake that we now have to worry about?
Speaker 2:No, no, I think he was a witness protection. I think this was a snake mob hit Really, and so because of that they don't want to release his name, because he has family in the area still. But that's it for me, out here on the streets, harry, back to you.
Speaker 1:Studio T I'm glad you ended that, because I was. We're packing up the truck. Here's where we just cut it loose. I had no way to get out of that. I had absolutely no way of getting out of that.
Speaker 2:No way of getting out of that. No way getting out of that, Harry. Let's pack this truck up Truck. No way of getting out of this. Have you heard about the new craze of the car jitsu?
Speaker 1:Dude, I've never wanted to personally invest in a new sport as much as I want to invest in car. Jitsu yeah.
Speaker 2:Why jiu-jitsu inside of a car Inside?
Speaker 1:of a car Like you, start off sitting there with your seatbelt on. Because your seatbelt is allowed to be used.
Speaker 2:Yes, For you or against you. That's insane. I love it so much Like I don't know if I want to do it, If I watch it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I don't think I want to.
Speaker 2:I've watched videos where like 3, 2, 1, undo the seatbelt and one dude had it figured out to where he could click his and he grabbed the other dude's seatbelt immediately. So now this dude can't get his seatbelt off and he gets his off and he's just pummeling him. I'm like he just submitted that point.
Speaker 1:It's definitely one of those like, as soon as you feel the upper hand happening, just tap.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's over.
Speaker 1:There's no space to reversal or nothing like that. It's all about how fast can you get it done.
Speaker 2:But also, I guess, seats matter. I wonder if the steering wheel comes out.
Speaker 1:I see there's a lot of questions. Is it the same car every time? I don't know Whose car is it.
Speaker 2:It's not my car, not my truck, right, but like I kind of want the driver's seat, you know, so I can just smack you with my right hand, my good hand, but then again I kind of want the passenger seat, so my legs are free.
Speaker 1:Right See, that's where the advantage and disadvantage happens.
Speaker 2:Right, because if, like, if, I'm in the passenger seat and you're in the driver's seat, you as in not you, harry, but whoever I'm fighting I'm somehow just going to worry about coming over to the adjustable steering wheel, release it and jam that thing into your legs. Now you can't move.
Speaker 1:Ooh, you're saying use the car to your advantage. I'm using the cart by advantage. Yeah, but can you slam it low enough to where it locks?
Speaker 2:Well, just get it low enough to where, like now, their legs are interfered. Smart, super smart, I mean cart jujitsu is what we did in the back of mom's van as kids.
Speaker 2:Maybe that's why we like it so much, because it's like they're just us it's just I don't know like adults doing it without mom yelling at them or threatening to pull the van over what they gotta do? Is they gotta do it in like the middle row of a 96 Chevy Lumina minivan like get in, there's only one entrance. It's not these new fancy doors that are automatic and now you have one door Get in One door, one side, passenger side door.
Speaker 1:Figure it out.
Speaker 2:Why your sister is covered in the back of Sam's Club Costco products, because you didn't bring a basket this time.
Speaker 1:You know I also have to go off on a tangent here I mean it's point packing the truck up. Why didn't they put that door on the driver's side for parents to like load up their kids safely and get in the car? Why was it on the passenger side?
Speaker 2:I don't know, because we're america and like that's the sidewalk side a good see there.
Speaker 1:this is why we talk about this stuff Now. It all makes perfect sense, like I?
Speaker 2:understand where you're at, but that's why they have doors on both sides now. Yep, I'm willing to bet I get it now. Yeah, it makes sense. You know, sometimes things in life, Harry, if you don't think about it, they make sense. Man, I was just hypnotized Boom, I got your back Truck's packed.
Speaker 1:Buddy, this has been fun.
Speaker 2:It's been a lot of fun. It's been a whole lot of fun.
